Text2Survive is an anonymous way for teens to seek HIV testing

Allaina made a good point that doctors might be hesitant to bring up the subject of testing when parents are present, which leads me to another point. Almost all the teens I know have cell phones available to them 24/7. We have this wonderful program in Illinois called Text2Survive - you can text the letters IL and your ZIP code to 36363, and it will give you a listing of all the HIV testing centers near you. Most teens have unlimited texting, so it's free, it's convenient, and above all, it's confidential.

  1. I think text2survive is a really good way to get the word out about testing centers. Some people may not be comfortable with telling people there going to get tested and some people may not know where you can get tested.
